After a long winter of rain and weeks of pollen, your home may need a little sprucing up. Here are some items that you may want to makeover for the Spring season.
Exterior Siding

Exterior siding may retain the most damage during a wet season. You may want to check the outside of your home for peeling paint, loose or rotten siding, or holes. Your home may need something as simple as pressure washing or something more extensive as new paint. If your siding needs repair, that needs to be done immediately as there are many critters that may find a new spring home inside holes or gaps inside your home’s siding.
Deck
Decks can retain extensive damage during a rainy season. You may want to check your deck for rotten areas, peeling paint, split or loose boards. Rotten areas may appear spongy or pitted and will be soft when pressed on. Bubbling or peeling paint could also be a sign of rotten wood. It will be important to repair your deck as soon as possible in order to safely use it for the warmer months to come.
Exterior Fixtures

Some home owners overlook minor exterior fixtures when examining their homes for damage. Soffit, fascia board, and trim boards may all become damaged from prolonged periods of rain. As minor as these items may be, damage to them could cause leakage in your home or damage to your siding or roof. Windows are another feature that are important to consider before the Spring weather gets warmer. Old windows may need to be replaced or some areas around the windows may need repair to keep the hot air out and the cold air in.
